We believe that starting new churches is one of the best ways to spread the good news of Jesus to our neighbors and friends. And so, after serving as the associate pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in downtown Athens, our former pastor Don Aldin began to explore the possibility of becoming a church planter in the winter of 2009. Together with the support of Redeemer and our other sister churches in northeast Georgia, we pursued the opportunity to start a new church in the eastern part of Athens-Clarke County.
Resurrection Presbyterian Church started in the summer of 2010 with a small group of people and a strong desire to form a community that would serve the people of Athens, Watkinsville, and the surrounding communities. We are bound together as a family by our common hope in the good news of Jesus. We want to see this good news reshape our lives and renew our community.
In 2017, Don Aldin accepted another call within the Presbytery and stepped down as Resurrection's head pastor. Associate Pastor Jared Bryant is now Resurrection's Interim Head Pastor, and we are very excited to see what God is doing in our community in future years. The Resurrection family loves this town, and we would love for you to come visit us as we worship the Lord and work toward the kingdom of God in Athens, Georgia.
