Our Story

With the help of other local churches, Resurrection Presbyterian Church was started in the summer of 2010 with a small group of people and a strong desire to form a community that would serve the people of Athens and the surrounding communities.

What brings us together and energizes our life as a family is the good news of who God is for us and what he has done for us in Jesus. We are a gathering of imperfect people who find their great hope in a perfect savior.  We are a small part of God’s much bigger work of bringing healing and hope to the city of Athens and beyond.

Our Beliefs

We are Biblical - We hold to the scriptures as God’s inspired and authoritative revelation to us, and we seek to embody a humble orthodoxy, submitting ourselves to God and his story as given to us in the scriptures.

We are Orthodox - We see ourselves as part of the historic “one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church,” and hold to the Christian faith as presented in the Apostles Creed & Nicene Creed.

We are Reformed - We emphasize the key tenets of the protestant reformation as contained in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, and we believe a deep grounding in the reformed faith produces humility, hope, and gladness in the sovereign grace of God.

We are Presbyterian - We follow a presbyterian form of church government, with elders who shepherd and deacons who serve.  We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), and are actively connected with other churches in the work of the kingdom and for mutual accountability.
